Mark is an educator, counsellor, author and conference presenter and works throughout Australasia. He is recognised for his connecting and insightful PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT work with staff, and PARENT EDUCATION SEMINARS for parents. His book, TEACHING TOUGH KIDS, took out the international NASEN award for 'Best Book to Promote Professional Development' in 2012. It offers real and refreshing approaches to maximise opportunities for students we find challenging to educate. Mark also co-authored 'What's the Buzz?' www.whatsthebuzz.net.au Both programs, one for PRIMARY students and the other for EARLY LEARNERS, became best sellers as an effective way to teach social and emotional literacy to young people, especially those who require greater structure and more explicit instruction. Over 16 lessons students become immersed in a variety of essential relational skills, stimulated by the experiences of our much-loved character, Archie. In each lesson the children help Archie solve the very same social dilemmas that occur in their everyday lives. As they do this, through activity, discussion, role-play and quizzes, they'll learn how-to become a more flexible social thinker. This unique global program is now in hundreds of schools/organisations throughout the world, and is about to be rolled out across China.
Mark's PARENT EDUCATION SEMINARS are based on his two PARENTING books;
PARENTING TOUGH KIDS
This down to earth 'parenting handbook' has sold almost a million copies. It is a must have book for parents, grandparents, caregivers, school libraries, preschool libraries and teachers. PARENTING TOUGH KIDS offers healthy and engaging ways to bring about helpful organisational and behaviour changes for all children, and particularly those who do it a little tougher than most.

In writing the foreword, Australia's leading psychologist, Andrew Fuller says -"Not all kids respond to the same approaches. Effective parents need to shift their parenting gears every so often. RAISING BEAUT KIDS, is a smorgasbord of ideas that will leave you and your family more positive and happier."
Each chapter offers a typical tricky scenario that parents often face at home with their kids, then practical and creative ways to respond are explored. Sometimes a simple tweak to our emotional response can make such a big difference! So come on, take the challenge; RAISING BEAUT KIDS has as much to do with our relationship with them as it has to do with shaping their behaviour - the two go hand in hand.
This year Mark has added 4 brand new PARENT EDUCATION SEMINARS. He would be pleased to accept an invitation from your school or organisation to present to your parent community. Nine 90 minute presentations are available to choose from. Click on each below for more details.
